Your audio stays on your Mac

Last updated: August 2026

1. On-device by design

AddSub is a native macOS app. All speech recognition, translation, speaker diarization, and OCR are performed locally on your Mac using the Apple Neural Engine. No audio, video, transcripts, or screen content is uploaded to any server — because there are no servers.

2. What we collect

AddSub does not require an account and does not collect personal data. The app stores only local, functional preferences on your device (e.g. your language-pair choice and trial start date). Optional crash reports are only sent if you explicitly enable them in macOS System Settings.

3. Microphone & audio access

AddSub uses a one-time macOS microphone/audio-capture permission to read the audio your Mac is playing. This is processed in real time on your device and never transmitted. You can revoke this permission anytime in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

4. License activation

If you activate a paid license, the minimal information needed to validate your license key (e.g. a key hash) is exchanged with the license service. No transcripts or audio data are involved.

5. Website analytics

This website may use privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics to understand aggregate usage. We do not sell or share personal data.
